Pursuant to the requirements of Section 125.3841 (2) of the Michigan Planning Enabling Act, this notification is to inform you that the City of Utica is now accepting public comments on the draft 2024 Master Plan. The 42-day comment period will run from February 23, 2024, through April 4, 2024. The plan is available for download at this link, MASTER PLAN

A Note About our Planning Commission

TITLE

An ordinance to regulate the use of land, natural resources and structures; to regulate structures designed for trade, industry, residence or other specified uses; to regulate and limit the height, ate area, the size and location of structures hereinafter to be erected or altered; to regulate and determine the area of yards, court, or other open spaces; to control congestion in the streets, to secure safety in case of fire, to proven the overcrowding of land, to bring about the gradual conformity of the uses of land and buildings and for such purposes to divide the city into districts and zones, to establish appeal procedures; to provide for the administration and enforcement of the provisions of this ordinance and to prescribe penalties for the violation thereof.

PREAMBLE

Pursuant to the authority conferred by Public Act 207, PA 1921 as amended, of the State of Michigan and for the purpose of promoting and protecting the public health, safety, peace,comforts, convenience and general welfare of the inhabitants of the City of Utica by protecting and conserving the character and social and economic stability of the residential, commercial, industrial, and other use areas, by securing the most appropriate use of land; preventing over-crowding; and facilitating adequate and economical provision of transportation, water, sewers, schools, recreation, and other public requirements; and by other means, all in accordance with the comprehensive plan.

ENACTING CLAUSE

NOW THEREFORE THE CITY OF UTICA ORDAINS: 
SECTION 100 TITLE.
This Ordinance shall be known and may be cited as the "City of Utica Zoning Ordinance," and will be referred to herein as "this Ordinance"
