Treasury and Finance oversee cash receipts and disbursements, financial reporting, investments, and tax billing and collections. The Treasurer serves as Treasurer of the Police and Fire Retirement System's Board of Trustees. The Treasurer also assists the payroll department with pension and tax reporting.
Treasury and Finance are forever in debt to the Clerk's office and its staff for assistance with cash receipting, tax collections and inquiries.

*When August 31 falls on a weekend, Summer tax payments will be accepted without penalty if received on the first business day in September.
**When February 28 falls on a weekend, tax payments will be accepted on the first business day in March.
All taxes unpaid at the close of business on February 28 will be payable with interest and fees to the Macomb County Treasurer, whose address is 1 South Main Street, 2nd Floor, Mount Clemens, Michigan 48043.
Tax payments mailed with a postmark date of February 28 or earlier will be accepted at the City if received no later than March 7.
Summer Tax Deferral
Taxpayers may defer their summer property tax if the meet the following criteria. Payment may be deferred until February 28 for principal residence property owned by a taxpayer who:

- Has a total gross household income of $40,000 or less for the preceding year, AND
- Is totally and permanently disabled, blind, paraplegic, hemiplegic, quadriplegic, OR
- Is an eligible serviceperson, eligible veteran, or eligible widow or widower, OR
- Is at least age 62.
